Biography
Stephanie S. Pengilley obtained her Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Santa Cruz, majoring in Legal Studies and minoring in Politics. She then received her law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law, where she obtained a concentration in international law and was the President of the International Law Society.
During law school, Ms. Pengilley organized the international law society’s first-ever fundraiser for the international rescue committee. She has continued her passion for international law by providing pro-bono legal services to the Immigration Justice Project.
Ms. Pengilley ’s practice focuses on consumer protection claims. Throughout her years in the law, she has represented consumers, car dealerships, and car manufacturers. This comprehensive background has provided Ms. Pengilley with an abundance of experience and the advantage of differing perspectives for a winning litigation approach.
When representing consumers, Ms. Pengilley has successfully taken multiple cases to trial in California state and federal courts and obtained verdicts in favor of her clients – including enhanced civil penalties – against giants like BMW of North America LLC, Kia America, Inc., Ford Motor Company, Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., and American Honda Motor Co., Inc. She is a proven advocate for her clients.
Prior to establishing her own law firm, Ms. Pengilley was Senior Counsel at her previous place of employment. She is barred in California and the Central and Southern Districts of California.
Among other honors, in 2022, Ms. Pengilley was elected to the San Diego County Bar Association’s Board of Directors as the New Lawyer Representative. Ms. Pengilley has also received awards from the Immigration Justice Project for her pro-bono legal service.
